In hoc libro, Lipsius tractat de virtute constantiae, quae est una ex principaliis virtutibus stoicorum. In primo libro, Lipsius agit de definitione constantiae, eiusque necessitate in vita humana. In secundo libro, auctor de constantia in adversis agit, et exempla ex historia et literatura Graeca et Romana adducit, ut ostendat quomodo homines constantiam praestiterint in variis difficultatibus et calamitatibus. Lipsius non solum de philosophia, sed etiam de religione loquitur, et ostendit quomodo constantia sit virtus Christiana.
