First-time novelist L.D. Hockenberry's husband used to hunt in the town that's the setting for her book. Originally from Putnam, Connecticut, the human resources manager now makes her home in Olin, North Carolina. When she was a child in Putnam, Hockenberry lived in a haunted house located across the street from Gertrude Warner, who wrote the children's Boxcar mystery series.
