Exclusive breastfeeding and the cause of abandonment in Lubumbashi

Breastfeeding is a serious public health problem in DR. Congo. However, here as elsewhere in underdeveloped countries, more than half of infant mortality is associated with nutritional diseases, as well as with various affections that even hinder the proper staturo-weightal development of children. This is why our study aims to improve the overall care of the Lush infant. Specifically, it will determine the average duration of exclusive breastfeeding and the causes of abandonment of this practice in our environment. Our retrospective, descriptive, cross-sectional study will take place at the Jason SENDWE general referral hospital in the maternal and child protection department, on a sample of 100 infants aged between 6 and 9 months, brought for vaccination to the PMI of the Jason Sendwe general referral hospital.
