This 1882 work remains unmatched and irreplaceable as an alphabetically arranged dictionary of corrupted or perverted words. The work contains thousands of entries and covers not only English but foreign words and proper names as well as certain special corruptions. A storehouse of curious, as well as useful, information that should be on the shelf beside Skeat's Etymological Dictionary.
