Retracing his own spiritual journey while conducting interviews with other pastors with similar experiences, Michael Palmer examines the ability of pastors to maintain their pastoral authenticity through resignation and termination and explores best practices for dealing with internal church conflict and hostility leading to that end. Among other things, his research reveales the need to create opportunities for discussion, reflection, and confession for pastors facing the difficulties associated with being forced to choose between their integrity and their employment.
