Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench) also known as ¿Lady¿s Finger¿, or bhindi is an important vegetable crop belonging to the family Malvaceae and grown extensively in all the tropical and sub- tropical regions of the world and in some of the warmer parts of the temperate zone. Globally, India ranks first in okra production having an area of 509 thousand hectares with an annual production of 6095 thousand tons and productivity of 12 million t/ha. The crop is grown throughout India, Gujarat is the leading okra producing state which has production of around 1,019.42 thousand tons (15.89% of total production) from an area of 75.27 thousand ha, with a productivity of 12.25 t/ha. Plant parasitic nematodes are considered as one of the major constraints for successful production of crops. Being obligate parasites, they must draw their nutrition from plant hosts and in the process, must debilitate the plant. Bio-control agent are reported to convert complex inorganic nutrients to soluble forms that become available for absorption to the plant roots and result in increased plant growth. Thioredoxin (Trx) (12 kDa M.W.) is a ubiquitous antioxidant protein which controls the oxidative stress and redox signaling with thioredoxin reductase (TrxR) and NADPH. Trx acts as an electron donor for ribonucleotide reductase (RNR), methionine sulfoxide reductase (Msr), and Trx peroxidase (peroxiredoxin). Trx plays an important role in DNA synthesis, reduction of the disulfide bond, recycling of peroxiredoxin (Prx), and as an electron donor. Various in vivo and in vitro assays are used to check the activity of Trx. This work is focused on the study of in vivo and in vitro methods for Trx activity which have been used in the different model system. Different methods were studied to evaluate the activity of Trx in different samples. Insulin reduction assay is more commonly used in vitro method because insulin acts as effective substrate for activity of Trx. Fluorescence, DTNB (5, 5¿-dithiobis (2-nitrobenzoic acid)) reduction, spectrophotometric or micro-method insulin reduction, and disulfide cross-linking interaction in vitro assays while Luciferase, cloning, and wort in vivo assays are used for the activity of the Trx system.

Variable star studies play an important roles in understanding the physical properties of the galaxies and clusters they are present in. The stars in globular clusters are believed to have formed roughly at the same time (although there is also mounting evidence that some clusters have formed via several episodes of star formation), from the same primordial material, and with the same composition. This should lead to a homogeneity in certain fundamental properties of the stars within each cluster, but with differences between the clusters. Knowledge about these properties, such as metallicity, age, and kinematics, are therefore important. One way to obtain better constraints on some of these physical parameters is to study the population of variable stars, especially RR Lyrae stars. Observing variable stars in different galaxy environments makes it possible to relate the types of variable stars to the stellar populations in their host galaxies.

They, on the other hand, are specific interpretations associated with individual symbols or elements in the drawing, often shaped by personal experiences and cultural influences. This book examines the two International Framework Agreements (IFAs 2002, 2009) of AngloGold Ashanti in Ghana, a subsidiary of the global mining giant, AngloGold Ashanti (AGA). AGA is the sole mining company in Africa to have signed an IFA. These agreements have become institutionalized as innovative and necessary instruments for global governance and business globalization. The study investigates the effectiveness of such agreements, focusing on the awareness, knowledge, understanding, their relevance and functionality. The research was conducted within the theoretical framework of sociology of law, which posits that such agreements should produce specific effects and shape social behavior in a predetermined and socially appropriate manner. The results revealed a lack of awareness and knowledge regarding IFAs, leading to a lack of appreciation for them. More importantly, these agreements were found to be non-functional. This highlights the need for local and national unions to receive support from their global counterparts in addressing the challenges of international labor standards. Advancements in this area will enhance the relevance and functionality of IFAs in Africa.

A 2-year wet seasons experiment was carried out to evaluate varieties of pearl millet and sheltered distances in an arid and semi-arid area of Bauchi State, Nigeria. These were set in a fixed-nested passion under a randomized complete block design and replicated four times. Within a range of distances, crops performed well on the lee than wind sides of the shelter. Based on inferences recommendations for scaling - up production and qualitative yield were made to farmers in the study area.
