Early activity in hydroelectricity is fairly comprehensively described in the first chapter. That is followed by six chapters which cover hydroelectricity generation on a country by country basis. There is a good deal of physical geography, for example the effects of sustained hydroelectricity production on river width. Carbon mitigation benefits of hydroelectricity generation are given their due place in the compilation and discussion. The author expects that the book will have appeal to experts, synthesising as it does information and data for hydroelectricity around the world over a period exceeding a century. It is also suitable for teaching both at Baccalaureate and Master's level, not least because the calculations are suitable for adaptation into studentexercises.

Within this fourth volume he presents a further fifteen carvings from a Wren's Nest to one based on an outstanding carving produced in 1840. He continues to recount his emotions; his highs and lows as he endeavours to achieve the best possible result with each and every carving. At times he succeeds; at other times he falls short but continually he strives to learn more about the craft. Mind Power in this context simply shows that circumstances emanate from perpetual thoughts. The book is a story about a Fulani community portraying a chain reaction of ITHC (Information, Thoughts, Habits and Circumstances). Information is the basis of thoughts, which will crystalize into habits, and the habits will surely solidify into circumstances. A noble man Buba Likitajo underwent trials. He waited long enough for a child, but never gave up on his aspirations. In the quest for his hope, he learned the principle of attraction, which he applied successfully. He understood that one could live forever if one really wanted. He embarked on that journey by mechanically uploading a gigabyte's worth of data into his wife's fetus. The baby was stuck with the correct information by targeting its sub-conscious mind. The resultant effect made the boy charming, humble, calm, smart, intelligent, and, above all, respectful. The boy grew up to be an unbeatable soul, truly much better than his father in his own way. The man, Ahmadu, decided to improve upon what his father did in order to produce a desired future generation through the principle of mind power He uploaded petabytes of data into the perfect machine, PULEL, via a psychotronic vibe upload process. The story showed how simple it is to teach someone something by focusing on their subconscious mind. It also showed how to attract what one really wants in life, how mentorship works, and how good thought attracts good circumstances. Buba Likitajo, a medical practitioner, lived by Hippocratic values, and that made him awesome to the public. His son Ahmadu followed his passion and made his own way in stick fighting, which got him an elegant wife and made him the first King of the Sticks in Kulumje village. He did this by using the mind power technique. With the right application of mind power, you will surely live the type of life you desire.

If one imagines, a group of ladies and gentlemen with age on their side, in conversation with each other, hailing from many different backgrounds, and with enough time to share their past, then the result will be a smorgasbord of humorous experiences, shaped and coloured by their individual skills and interests. Narratives with each other will often prompt and resurrect from the depths of their memories, the recall of events that meant so much to them when they were younger. From those who grew up on a farm, familiar with the old country craft skills and knowledge of nature that made life fascinating, and others that had a scientific inquisitiveness that attracted them like a magnet to watch and study wild life behaviour and to understand principles that make, for example, a sonic boom or the psychology of life, through to those that survived escapades in World War II Forces, will delight readers with their tales of adventure. The book is written to be an easy, freshly interesting, educating and often humorous read full of contemplation and wisdom; a treasure trove of memories that should warm the cockles of everybody's heart. These elderly stalwarts, most who have sadly already gone, and those very few who still remain for only the shortest of time now, should not be forgotten, devalued or dismissed by generations who follow on, as their tales can still be thought provoking, entertaining and inspirational.

Male victims of sexual abuse remain hidden, ignored, dismissed, misunderstood, ridiculed and above all else, neglected. Boys and men are less likely to be identified as victims, less likely to recognise they have been abused, less likely to disclose and less likely to engage with services. This book addresses the many issues and disadvantages uniquely and disproportionately facing male victims, and will explore how environmental factors (nurture) and biological factors (nature) play a part. The book will also explore how to adapt practice making it more male-friendly, and it will provide examples of how to use therapeutic approaches with male victims whilst utilising, rather than demonising, elements of masculinity. "This book should be read by all family agencies and everyone interested in the abuse of men. Men have been overlooked as victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse since it became an issue in 1971 when the first refuge for women and children was opened. Finally, 50 years later there is a voice for men."Erin Pizzey, international founder of the refuge movement for all victims of generational family violence "This unique guide covers everything from challenges posed by professional bias and legislation, to how concepts of masculinity prevent (but can also aid) best practice. This is an invaluable resource for any practitioner working with young males suspected to be vulnerable to, or being sexually exploited. There really is nothing quite like it in the field!" Adele Gladman, Independent Safeguarding Children Trainer and Consultant and co-author of Child Sexual Exploitation After Rotherham'"This important work presents a comprehensive and sensitive view of male victims, their journey to recovery and recommendations for those that wish to support them. Providing a valuable source to victims, students and professional partitioners alike. Highly recommended."Deborah Powney, Lecturer in Professional Policing & Criminology - UCLan, BSc, MSc, PhD Candidate (Psychology) "This is a much needed and "must read" book by someone who knows what he's talking about both as a survivor and a highly experienced practitioner in the field of sexual abuse. The power of this book is that it combines hard scientific data with real life stories. I can't recommend this book highly enough for anyone interested in the human condition and in particular what life is like for our most vulnerable males." Luciano Pavarotti was one of the best-loved international personalities of the 20th century. A singer who broke free of opera houses to perform before massive audiences in huge arenas around the world, becoming in the process the richest opera singer in history. John Duffus presented and worked on a dozen concerts with Pavarotti, including the last he ever sang to a paying public, as well as others with such artists as Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Isaac Stern and fellow tenors Plácido Domingo and José Carreras Blessed with a glorious voice, described as "a freak of nature that comes very rarely in 100 years", Pavarotti seemingly had it all. After his entry into arenas, though, disasters began to strike with increasing regularity. He was cancelling previously scheduled concerts and operas virtually at a whim. The ego had become as large as his girth. The backstage shenanigans of the promoters, agents and others who worked on these concerts have never been revealed, until now.

Before Studio 54 Club and Saturday Night Fever, something magical happened on the Riviera. A Club became legendary for forging a new generation, the Angels. Clubs, parties, love and excess were their lifestyle. A true, funny story, in a period where naïve carelessness prevailed, life choices were far away and still to be taken. It is a one-of-a-kind account with international references to the disco era and the birth of the Afro Cosmic sound.

ABOUT GATHERING PHOTONS IN MAY No subject is off-limits in these wide-ranging poems. They are like bees in a field, gathering the honey of objects. They are poems which distil essences, in quick, lively forays of attention. Vividness and specificity of language are to the fore, relishing verbal depth and density. Their aim is to evoke the sensual granularity of the world, by infusing objects with language, by living the world linguistically - a joy in how the world feels and smells; in how it looks as sunlight breaks over the horizon; in the muscularity of a mollusc; in the scratchiness of a grasshopper. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Basil du Toit was born in Cape Town in 1951 and came to Edinburgh in 1980 to undertake postgraduate study in Philosophy. He has lived there ever since. Although nearly all of his poetry has been written in Scotland, he identifies both as a Scottish and as a South African poet. In 1987 he shared the Sanlam Literary Award with the poet Douglas Livingstone. Subsequently he has been a winner of the Poetry Business Book & Pamphlet Competition (judged by Billy Collins) and won the Wigtown Poetry Prize in 2021 (judged by William Letford).
