The word "estuary" (from the Latin aestus - tide or whirlpool) refers to a river outlet or a bay, characterised by salinities intermediate between the values observed for seawater and freshwater, with the action of the tides constituting an important physical regulator, and by the presence of various species adapted to the ecological conditions characteristic of this ecosystem. They are bodies of water connected to the ocean that have irregular topographical features and are generally located perpendicular to the coastal zone. Despite the importance of these systems, there is no single definition that fits all the world's estuaries, since each estuary has its own unique characteristics. São Marcos Bay is home to the São Luís Island Port Area, which includes Vale SA's Ponta da Madeira Port Terminal (TPPM), the Port of Itaqui, owned by EMAP - Empresa Maranhense de Administração Portuária, the Port of ALUMAR - Consorcio de Alumínio do Maranhão and the Port of Ponta da Espera. The Maranhão Port Area is the second largest port complex in Latin America and one of the largest in the world in terms of cargo handling.

This research is conceived from the desire to be part of the growing awareness of the social sciences about the existence, sometimes conflicting, between the different forms of memory and its connection with history. It is an attempt to approach the memory of the Arhuaca community from its different dimensions and its relationship with the construction of Colombia's historical memory. The research starts from the premise that there is not and has not been a constructive dialogue between the indigenous memory, starting from their cosmovisions and identities with the historical memory of Colombia. Thus, in order to illustrate these differences, we wanted to tell the history of violence in Colombia from the Arhuaca indigenous perspective and contrast it with the partly hegemonic historical memory about the same facts.

This book has no other objective than that of its title: Traveling with Pierre Hadot through ancient thought. A journey that does not propose any new theory or philosophical system, but, on the contrary, what it intends is another point of view, another perspective of the so-called Ancient Philosophy, that is, when philosophical thinking began in the West. And this perspective of Hadot is absolutely different from what is generally understood and taught in philosophy, that is to say, in these pages there is not only a presentation of ancient philosophical thinking but a warning: it is a thinking to deepen living, one lives to be more and better than one is; philosophy is taken as the path that undoubtedly focuses on the Good, understood this Good as the sum of virtues and behaviors that ensure what we commonly call happiness or, at least, harmony of existence with oneself and with what surrounds us.

We currently live in a world where people find it difficult to build long-term bonds and institutions are constantly being re-engineered at a speed never seen before. As a corollary, the world of work has characteristics that impact on the bodies and minds of its professionals. The feeling is that everything is ephemeral and disposable, which is reflected in the way culture, goods and services are consumed. It is in this context that this essay on anxiety and depression in teachers is set. This dynamic has affected teachers to the extent that they transfer this behaviour to their daily lives, experiencing everything briefly, with no incentive to focus on projects, relationships or jobs. The result: the process of social subjectivisation does not encourage teachers and other people to build up the psychic resources to deal with the world around them in a time-consuming and binding way - leading them to fall ill. This essay is an invitation to reflect on this state of affairs, which leads people to live on the "edge" and take the lead in their narrative, being able to establish dialogue with all the actors in their work.

The use of technological tools has become commonplace in homes, offices, banks and many other businesses. People who didn't have the opportunity to go to school use electronic bank terminals and some smartphone functions that require them to recognize certain symbols without much difficulty. Scientific research and the sciences in general have achieved results at an astonishing speed that was unimaginable at the beginning of the last century. The very speed with which a vaccine for SARS-COV-2, responsible for Covid-19, was developed is proof of this. Some vaccines took decades of development and testing to finally show results, but in the case of SARS-COV-2 in less than a year, the tests are already in phase 3 of development and therefore only a few months away from showing results. Society has adopted new behaviors as a result of technological advances. Computers are very common in many environments and bring with them a digital language, greater speed in the transmission and storage of information and even a change in social relations, especially with regard to teaching.

This paper deals with three interrelated issues that lead to the process of change in Spain over the last forty years: immigration, religious pluralism and the changes that these factors have caused in the religious sphere. Catholicism, especially official-hierarchical Catholicism, was losing ground. Secularisation has accelerated since the 1980s, causing a "decatholisation" of social institutions and of individual consciences and practices. Contradictorily, alongside the loss of official Catholic religiosity, there is at the same time a revitalisation of the religious field, a certain de-secularisation that is manifested in the continuing strength of popular Catholicism and the increasing visibility of other religions. This religious pluralism stems to a large extent from immigration. The impact of the religious field on social reality is also analysed; along the lines of Marcel Mauss's theory of the "total social fact", the social and cultural functionality of religion is postulated as an adaptive mechanism for immigrants and as a determining factor in the identification processes of Spaniards.

This book deals with the beginnings of the mechanisation of time in Western history and its fundamental influence on the realm of human experience. Philosophical reflection is carried out by Walter Benjamin and Henri Bergson, exploring the problematic of a quantitative understanding of time to the detriment of its original qualitative nature, a development that was historically strengthened and consolidated, according to the author, with the emergence of the mechanical clock and the musical score. Sound and musical experiences such as the church bells, the ticking of the mechanical clock and medieval Western polyphony led to the development of a sensibility suitable for the acceptance of a mechanised notion of time.

For four decades I have been teaching Mexican Political System in the Political Science and Public Administration degree program at the Autonomous University of Baja California Sur. A decade ago, the electronic journal Hechos y Derechos of the Instituto de Investigaciones Jurídicas of the Universidad Nacional generously offered me a space to publish articles related to my teaching work. Over time I have discovered that I like teaching because it allows me to tell stories, some of which, like the great Gabriel García Márquez, I have lived and live to tell. The cases that I incorporate here have been published, on different dates, by the Instituto de Investigaciones Jurídicas de la UNAM, thanks to the hospitality of Dr. Jorge González Galván, director of the aforementioned journal. I have constructed and commented on all of them in my classes, especially since 2011. I believe that case studies are a formidable didactic tool for university students to assimilate knowledge, especially to contrast the postulates of the General Constitution of the Republic with the contemporary history of Mexico.

The sign of the cross made on the chest as you enter the venue always with your right foot; fingers pointing to the sky as a prayer is said before the match, in thanks for a goal or point scored, in short, for victory, for the medal hanging around your neck. The confidence of athletes, coaches and fans in amulets, tattoos, clothes under uniforms, beards/hair growth/cuts, countless prayers, gestures and rituals performed before, during or in the course of matches and competitions. Or as the athlete interviewed said: "in order for me to get a place in the Olympics, I was going to church straight away". You can easily find countless relationships and everyday manifestations of religiosity in the sporting environment. These behaviours, objects, practices and rituals permeate the religiosity of athletes and seek, in a way, to fill the void of the uncertainty of competition, the uncontrollable, the unknown and impotence. In the daily life of high-level sport, personal beliefs and professed religion establish complex relationships.

Current state of protection of the rights of persons with disabilities in the province of Santiago del Estero, in the light of the new social paradigm and the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Inquiring whether the view of the new social paradigm is reflected in the drafting of laws and regulations, but warning that as any paradigm shift requires an effort not only institutional but also social, by all members that are part of society, an effort that also weighs on the political actors and which demands a positive attitude in the search for public action policies that enable a gradual change in the approach that was held at first about people with disabilities to a better situation of protection and protection of their rights.

This study aims to analyse the National Hospital Care Policy, focusing on the Philanthropic Hospitals Restructuring and Contractualisation Programme within the SUS. This programme is a strategy adopted by the Ministry of Health in 2005 to change the contractual rules between these health establishments and local governments. The traditional financing model, of payment per procedure through the SUS table, is transformed into a mixed contract, where payments are made upon fulfilment of quantitative and qualitative targets. The aims of this programme are to alleviate the financial problems these hospitals face and to improve the quality of care and management. This research, through a case study in two contracted health establishments, collects and analyses quantitative and qualitative data that allows us to identify the impacts, progress, gaps and problems of this programme.

This interesting study investigates how the client or end consumer or citizen is at the heart of the FLIPORTO literary festival's business model and how it performs the highest level of governance by reporting and publicising results achieved in its five annual editions from 2008 to 2012. The results conclude that the efficiency model of the FLIPORTO brand is highly related to the greater participation of society as a key product of innovation, transformation and socio-economic and cultural development over time.

In Cameroon, the defensive security reflex has led to the creation of vigilance committees, which work alongside the defense forces in the fight against insecurity. These vigilance committees have acquired a "role identity" that makes them auxiliary forces in the popular defense policy. They are key figures in the fight against insecurity in North Cameroon, and their role is often questionable. The aim of this book is to analyze the status and place accorded to these actors in the security system. Are they "de facto civil servants", i.e. reserve forces in the national security system, in view of the benevolence accorded them by the public authorities? Or are they simply exceptional collaborators with the army during a security crisis? What can happen to them after a security crisis? This book seeks to shed light on these issues.

The main aim of this study is to look at teacher self-efficacy, in particular to see if there are differences between individual self-efficacy and collective self-efficacy in two schools, and to analyse whether different relational environments have an impact on different patterns of collective and individual self-efficacy. The aim is also to find out whether the variables age and length of service influence teachers' self-efficacy. This study also aims to analyse the internal consistency of the instruments used to analyse the results. The study sample consisted of 56 teachers selected from two schools. With regard to the methodology used, three instruments were applied: PLQ Questionnaire, Collective Efficacy Questionnaire and TSES Questionnaire.As conclusions, it was essentially found that there are no significant differences between individual self-efficacy and collective self-efficacy. Teachers say they strongly believe in their ability to perform in the classroom, while the two schools do not differ greatly.

The surgical area is recognized by the patient as a hostile and unfamiliar environment that generates fear and anxiety, together with concern about their state of health. Several studies relate anxiety to pain and it is known that postoperative pain control directly influences the patient's recovery. Humanization in care and a good nurse-patient relationship can reduce this anxiety and facilitate recovery. The aim of this work is to evaluate the effect of the humanization of surgical care in the reduction of pain and anxiety of the patient; for this purpose, a systematized bibliographic search was carried out in primary and secondary documentary sources. Anxiety accompanies the patient throughout the perioperative period and is directly related to the results of the intervention. The nursing team will create a relationship of trust with the patient to reduce this anxiety, and their interventions will be aimed at providing physical and emotional security throughout the process. Humanization puts the patient at the center of care and requires active and empathic listening, providing all the necessary information.

The book offers an introduction to the author's work in her internship supervision practices in Psycho-Oncology. It highlights a field of training in Health Psychology that links Therapeutic Support, Oncology and Psychology, specifically Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. This field was named by the author as Therapeutic Counselling in Psycho-oncology - ATPO. She goes through some important concepts for the training of undergraduate students in the health field, pointing out the main problems of patients facing cancer at different stages of development: children, adults and the elderly. It doesn't neglect the everyday problems of contemporary society, such as gender issues and other political aspects of social inclusion.

Caring for people affected by stroke can be extremely challenging for the multi-professional team, as well as for family carers. Therefore, every day it is necessary to seek improvement in this area in order to guarantee quality of life and biopsychosocial and spiritual well-being in their daily lives, fostering coping strategies in the face of this health condition.

This book is the result of research carried out to obtain a Master's degree in Public Administration at the University of Minho in Portugal. In carrying out this work, indicators were defined, based on Peru's electronic transparency law, to assess the level of electronic transparency of Peruvian ministries. This work initiates a discussion on the progress made in the transition to digital systems, which certain organisations are implementing due to the increasingly massive use of new technologies.

Childhood obesity is the most frequent nutritional disorder during childhood and adolescence, and tends to be self-perpetuating with serious repercussions in adult life. The aim of this work has been to carry out a cognitive-behavioral intervention to incorporate healthy eating habits and physical exercise in children and their family environment, to combat obesity, reduce weight and associated psychological factors.

Digital communication can influence subjectivity. By providing a platform for communication, expression and identity construction, digital communication can have a significant impact on how we perceive ourselves and others. Social media can influence how we relate to others and how we feel about ourselves, which can have an impact on our mental health and well-being. Social networks can provide a source of external validation, which can lead to a dependence on the approval of others.

Smoking is a chronic, non-communicable disease that is considered preventable, belonging to the group of addictions and is catalogued in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders DSM-IV of the American Psychiatric Association. The present book gathers a scientific approach from the perspective of adolescence, taking into account that this almost always uses "the smoking model" as one of the evidences of their adulthood and emancipation, reinforcing their external image and turning smoking into one of the most serious health problems on a global scale, defined as the great silent epidemic of the 20th and 21st century, for which immediate alternatives are demanded to preserve human health at an early stage. This research aims to recover from epicondylitis through physical agents such as thermotherapy, TENS and intervention plan through activities. The design of this research is descriptive and cross-sectional, since it reveals the reality of epicondylitis and its incidence in the workplace and household chores. Epicondylitis is a common pathology suffered by adults or athletes who performed repetitive movements, both at work and in sports. It is a pathology that degenerates the tendon. 90% of people have improvement with conservative treatment, and in some cases very serious, their recovery is surgical.

This book is about the importance of body measurements when selecting replacement or breeding heifers.The Compagnie Pastorale du Haut-Lomami (PHL) ranch in Congo Kinshasa used to select heifers on the basis of live weight, which should not be less than 300 kgs. However, our study showed that liveweight could not be the only selection criterion. Taking into account and correctly evaluating certain body measurements of the heifer could be a factor in improving its beef and reproductive quality.

An effective public policy is characterized by a comprehensive design that comprehensively addresses social problems. This implies not only the creation of appropriate legislation, but also the implementation of evaluation and monitoring processes over time. Specifically in the context of higher education, a well-conceived policy plays a fundamental role in building a more equitable society, based on principles of social justice and inclusion. This requires the State to assume responsibility for promoting equitable conditions of access and opportunities for all individuals. To achieve this, it is necessary to implement measures that guarantee equal opportunities in access to higher education and, at the same time, promote the quality and relevance of academic programs. This research explores the influence that the World Bank and the OECD have had on the design of Chilean higher education policy during the last three decades, using the Critical Theory perspective, a critical analysis of Chilean higher education policy from 1990 to 2020 is carried out.

We're living in the age of social networking - it's an inescapable fact. The rise in popularity of these platforms has, on the one hand, revolutionized communication among healthcare professionals and, on the other, turned traditional learning models on their head. Many pathologists around the world are taking advantage of these means of communication and have turned them into an excellent model of active pedagogy. A veritable virtual community of pathologists is very active, particularly on Twitter and Facebook, sharing and discussing interesting cases, reporting innovative results or simply communicating about their specialty. In the age of digital education, it is more essential than ever for healthcare professionals in general, and pathologists in particular, to integrate these community platforms and develop the way we learn and exchange information about our specialty.

In the state of Tlaxcala there are several schools located in the vicinity of different industrial corridors, which means that the student population is potentially exposed to the emission of environmental pollutants from different industries. Some of these substances can produce acute or chronic effects on human health and can even cause damage to genetic material. In the present work, a biomonitoring study was carried out from the genotoxic point of view using the micronucleus (MN) and binucleated cells (BN) assay in epithelial cells of the oral mucosa, to determine the damage induced in 99 adolescents of both sexes between 12 and 15 years of age (experimental group), potentially exposed to pollutants emitted by the Panzacola Industrial Corridor and in 30 adolescents of the same age range (control group), apparently not exposed to obvious sources of contamination. The results found with both biomarkers were contradictory.

We were born in 2002 as a response to some academic and social needs, we are interested in the regional, urban and environmental dimension integrated of the various disciplines, such as economics, sociology, architecture and engineering in the territories of the Colombian Caribbean. In 2006, the research group has a reorganization process, creating the Gemci Corporation, due to the demands and requirements in the areas of contracting intervention and seeking to improve and enhance the services provided to academics and scientists, based on high quality approaches and self-regulation of knowledge and disciplines, a multidisciplinary team, 100% Colombian who contributed ideas for knowledge in a serious and responsible manner of the different social, economic and political instances in the economic Caribbean governed by the excellence of professional practice in the Caribbean.

The book aims to analyze the integral reparation in environmental conflicts caused by oil transnationals within the territories of Ecuadorian indigenous peoples and communities, specifically addressing the rights of Nature as a subject of rights and the rights of the victims, from a perspective of International Human Rights Law and Latin American Environmental Constitutionalism, which highlights the Andean worldview, the epistemology of the South and the human rights approach as the basis for the research that supports this publication. This publication is possible thanks to the support of the University of Otavalo.

This paper uses a panel data approach to analyze the influence of endogenous sources of growth on the process of regional integration in the CEMAC zone. Using stata 11 software, we have estimated a model with a panel data sample of the six CEMAC member countries. The results show that the best sources of endogenous growth, sufficient to propel a new dynamic of regional integration in the CEMAC zone, are political stability, economic openness, public investment, public spending and the paving of roads for regional use.

ocell biology (cytology) is a scientific discipline that studies cells, both structurally and functionally, and uses them for applications in biotechnology. It is concerned with the cellular ecosystem, i.e. the dynamic, self-regulating equilibrium of cellular functions, in a normal or disturbed context. The field of cell biology involves a multitude of coordinated chemical reactions and fine regulatory mechanisms between millions of micro- and nanoscopic constituents. These constituents ensure the long-term architecture and functioning of the cell.1 The practice of cell biology involves the use of both simple, artisanal techniques and complex technologies in terms of processes and equipment. Depending on the nature of the cellular element studied (e.g. DNA, RNA, protein, protein complex, metabolite, organelle, membrane, etc.) and the cellular functions analyzed (movement, metabolism, morphology, enzymatic activity, signaling pathways, cellular health, etc.), different technologies are chosen.
