"I came home from work one evening, needing to talk to God about something. There was something on my heart. I wanted to pray but did not know how. So, I lifted my hands in the air in surrender to God."As a young girl growing up in a religious home, my life was deeply molded by what my parents taught me. They belonged to the Pentecostal church, and they made sure that I was ingrained in the Bible from a very young age.My understanding of religion at an early age was that there was one right way, and that way was Pentecostalism. I did not know that I could have a personal relationship with God. I did not know that Jesus died for my sins that I might have the assurance of salvation; the gift of eternal life. In coming to Christ, I now had a Heavenly Father. In Intimacy With God, the author Rejoyce Zikpi shares her story about her personal faith; how doubting God turned into an intimate journey with Him. If you have ever struggled with your personal faith, or have a desire to have intimacy with God, I hope this book will encourage you.

"Who am I? Why am I here? Where did I come from? Where am I going? Will I be there by next week?" Aren't these the questions of life? And these are some of the questions and ruminations posed by Coyote in the 21 very colorful and whimsical full-color illustrations by Sandy Gullikson. I sit here today in my Northern California home, having survived several life-altering events to include a major career shift, loss of a mate and lifestyle, suicide of a close friend, and temporary loss of health. Are things great? Well, they are not as I had hoped. But are things better than they were for a while? Definitely!!! I wrote ChangeArtist in response to the many changes in my own life. Writing the book was perhaps my own Lifeline. In this book, I offer you snippits of things I learned while going through these changes, as well as ways to cope and to make the most of this change as it impacts your future. First, I give some perspectives of what change is. When things change, it is so easy to get caught up in "why me?" thinking, if indeed those changes are negative. One thing I learned is that life is a journey and change is just part of the process! ChangeArtist provides some insights, tactics, and strategies for understanding, surviving, coping with, and making the most of change. In the section Understanding Change , I give some thoughts about and definitions of change, transition, and transformation. Initiating Change presents some of the catalysts of change, such as success, loss, failure, LifeShifts, and Defining Moments. Structuring Change presents some shapes of our behavior in response to change: resisting or turning back; doing nothing; going forward by shifting, transitioning or transforming; plateauing; and enduring the "wilderness" between endings and new beginnings. Then, I provide a background of coping with change, based on strategic business principles (of which I am a professor). I realized that much of what I was teaching about businesses actually related to individuals and our lives. I was teaching coping skills, basically! I realized that these business skills were helping me view change in different ways, and offering me alternative ways of thinking of my future, in terms of opportunities for "making the most of change." Strategic planning is "proactive"-identifying where we are, where we want to be in the future, and what it will take to get there in terms of maximizing our strengths and opportunities and minimizing our threats and weaknesses. Dealing with Today offers steps used in strategic business planning: observing your situation, learning to know who you are and your life mission, observing your environment, creating a sense of place for this self-analysis, staying flexible, and indulging yourself while you adapt to your changed reality. I did not teach this last step to my students, as they did that on their own: As they graduated, so many took wonderful and enviable trips prior to seeking employment, as they changed from student to business professional! (Some of the "tips" offered in this book are long-term with major impact, while some are more "wee wisdoms" that I gained along the way that seem more individual- than business-oriented. "Indulging Your Self" is one example.) Finding the Good Stuff gives suggestions for "framing" your coping and decision-making, such as looking for the joy and the bright side of things, seeking validation, living in abundance, connecting with spirituality or God and with others, being detached enough to be able to stay afloat, and finding your creativity. Journeying Inward gets more "real" as we evolve through the process of adapting to change. Here, we discuss the concrete strategic planning steps (combined with techniques geared more toward the individual) of defining your mission, defining your co

Nothing to Lose is a suspense novel that picks up with the life of Paul Marco two years after his corporate downsizing days at the Baltimore Light Company. This time, Paul Marco is matched against hard times that are clouded by personal tragedy. After Paul's wife, Diana, is brutally murdered at their struggling small business, Paul is determined to find those responsible so they can be held accountable. Unfortunately, those working on the side of the law do not work as quickly or as harshly as Paul Marco would like. He takes it upon himself, with the help of a few friends from his old neighborhood, to get old-style revenge. The savage instincts of a man whose back has been pushed against the wall force Paul to fight in such a way that justice is achieved to his satisfaction. However, the emotional and physical price Paul Marco pays for his revenge is tremendous. Several times he must reevaluate his feelings to decide if the price might be too high. He asks himself if it is worth giving up everything he has worked for, just to get revenge. Commissioner Jim Doukup, Detective Theresa McGavin, and Captain Thiemeyer try to catch up with Paul Marco to stop the seemingly endless amount of horrible bloodshed. The persistent Detective McGavin has Paul's next moves figured out several times but pulls up short when it comes to producing the necessary evidence to make an arrest. Paul has several encounters with associates of the ominous Billy Sharp, known racketeer, drug dealer, and bookie. Paul has to systematically eliminate several human obstacles as he brutally makes his way up through Billy Sharp's organization. Once Paul has Billy Sharp in a position to even the score, he takes advantage of his skills, cunning planning, and gut rage to make things right. Nothing to Lose is a page-turning suspense filled novel that makes you want to root for the underdog. After all, what Paul Marco goes through could happen to any one of us living in a politically correct society where the criminal has more rights than the victim.

This book describes the nine intelligences based on Dr. Howard Gardner's investigations of the different ways people process information or learn. We were all given different skills or intelligence in different areas and this so-called intelligence has a high impact on how we learn. Like Albert Einstein said: "Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing it is not good enough".I want this book to be a guide for teachers and parents and anybody around children, that way they can find strategies that can help them learn based on their strengths. And also for the children to learn about the different ways people learn and about themselves at an early age.
