The goal of the Improved Masonic Ritual and Monitor is to provide historical information about the honorable fraternity of Freemasonry. It is not intended to provide the esoteric knowledge of its philosophy.
Though information can be printed on pages the spirit of Freemasonry can only be imbued upon its member within a lodge. We maintain that the light of freemasonry is not a secret in and of itself. Without an upright heart the reader will not understand masonic literature and likewise will not misuse what he does not understand.
