Über Innovation and development of polymer blends

The aim of this study is to modify or improve the properties of polymeric materials. Polymer blends are very interesting because their properties depend on the base polymers, and can therefore be varied by the composition of the blend. It should be pointed out, however, that making blends can be complex, as few polymers are fully miscible. To this end, three formulations were prepared in comparison with the base polymers. The melt flow index, static rheological properties, density and differential scanning calorimetry of materials (ABS, HDPE and EVA) and composites (HDPE/ABS, HDPE/EVA and their blends) were studied.The results obtained showed that the blend (HDPE/ABS - HDPE/EVA) is partially miscible and can provide excellent mixing properties, due to a particular synergy between the base polymers.
