Ninety-seven-year-old Jacob is a shepherd blessed with several wives and children, one of whom is Joseph, his son with Rachel. One day after Jacob is visited by a messenger from God, he decides to return home to Canaan after a twenty-year absence. Because the King of Cyprus and his soldiers are plundering towns and caravans along the Euphrates River, Jacob anticipates his journey will be dangerous.
