Kingdom of Beginnings

Kali has a relatively normal life, one where she spends days on the beach without a care in the world.
Until that very world catches on fire, melting everyone and everything around her.
Spurred on by the desperation to survive the dangers now threatening her life, she meets her Bonded, Jakir, after a deadly encounter with a group of lawless men. Though she's found some comfort in having someone so closely tied to her, she must meet with the other leaders of the world. Leaders who have been navigating their new bodies, along with this new way of life, longer than she has.
While she may be kind to those now under her care, her craving for violence and bloodshed makes her anything but to her enemies. Especially to those that want her for her power.
Between fighting for safety for her people, and the confusing emotions she feels for another leader, Kali truly begins to learn just how much everything has changed. Including how dangerous it can be when you - and nearly everyone around you - is no longer human.
