Über Lost at Home
Fortunate to have been born and brought up in a Bengali nuclear family by very good and humble educated parents in the valley of Assam in Northeast India. Grateful to all concerned for the Convent education and feel proud to be a Cottonian thereafter. Here lies my roots, the reason of my being what I am today. Second among the three siblings. Passed MBBS from Guwahati Medical College in June 1996; after an year of compulsory rotatory internship, did one year house staff ship in the department of Neurosurgery, GMCH. Worked in several hospitals and nursing homes in Guwahati and Kolkata for 3 years while preparing for post graduate entrance examination ( which were not held for 3 years in Assam then). Got married to Dr. Nirmalya Bagchi in August 2000. After completion of 2 years Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Pathology from GMCH in December 2003, relocated to Kolkata and gained hands on experience as a Clinical Pathologist in a good number of well established and reputed hospitals. In 2009, had the proud privilege of becoming a mother to a lovely daughter. During that time had too many exciting reasons to go off work for 2 years thereafter. Pursuing Fellowship in Transfusion Medicine in Colombo was a wonderful experience by itself that happened in April-May 2013, and added a foreign feather to my cap not to forget the awesome company out there. It was a home far way from homeland topped with magical sparkle of immuno hematolgy related to Transfusion medicine of NBC, Narahenpita, Colombo. Had a bout of stay in Agartala, Tripura thereafter for 2 long years during which I also underwent the Management Course from Pune while pursuing job as Consultant Pathologist in a reputed hospital there as well as in SRL Diagnostics. Relocating back in Kolkata in 2016, worked as Consultant, Clinical Pathology (after a gap of staying off-work for an year due to personal reasons), in a reputed hospital in Kolkata. New places of work have always attracted me as I enjoy working and learning newer domains and loved getting to know and work with new people. As far as the certificates of experience are concerned, those remind me of the wonderful days spent in each and every work place gathering fresh flowers to 'The basket of experience'.
