Über Mea and the Palm Flowers
A little girl called Mea lives in Pedero village on the island of Savu, where women are skilled at weaving a special cloth called ikat. When the annual Harvest Festival was approaching, Mea dreamed about wearing a new ikat cloth to the festival, but things did not turn out as she expected.
This story is inspired by the traditional lives, including rich textile tradition, on the island of Savu in Indonesia. It is beautifully illustrated and full of authentic details from the Savunese culture.
This book was created by Tracing Patterns Foundation in collaboration with Ice Tede Dara and Geneviève Duggan to raise funds for the Savu weavers group, Tewuni Rai. Half of all sale proceeds will be donated to the weavers.
