Miracle in Carvoeiro

Everyone has a past. In the case of Rui Fernandes it is a closed book and he is trying to write a new one. Carvoeiro is the kind of Portuguese fishing village where fishing no longer takes place. It has everything essential to village life; an accident-prone guesthouse owner, eighty-five restaurants, testosterone-fuelled police, illegal Brazilians, an ex-beauty queen who wants to open a sex shop. It also has a dusting of drugs, a crippled old lady and a young girl who has been touched by God.
Against a backdrop of a pilgrimage over which the Church has lost control, the tapestry of this story interweaves different threads; sunshine and sangria, love and the oldest profession, illegal drugs and murder. Rising above this is the unanswered question: has there been a miracle?
