Nigeria's Education Development Rankings. The Role of Quality Education in a Multicultural Democracy

It explores the concept of multicultural democracy, quality education, their interplay, and the responsibilities of the executive and legislative branches of the Nigerian government, along with the duties of school authorities in ensuring the delivery of quality education in Nigeria. The paper also provides suggestions for improving the quality of education in Nigeria.
Alarming statistics reveal that millions of Nigerian children lack access to quality education, and Nigeria's education development has been hindered, ranking 163rd out of 189 countries in the Human Development Index. Scholars have identified inadequate funding as a significant issue plaguing the Nigerian education system, with budgetary allocations falling far below UNESCO's recommended levels. This paper underscores the need for better planning and addressing challenges to effectively implement educational strategies in Nigeria to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal 4 by 2030.
In conclusion, this paper addresses the critical issue of quality education in a multicultural democracy like Nigeria and advocates for improved funding and strategic planning to enhance the quality of education in the country.
