On the Adaptation of External Nature to the Physical Condition of Man

Regius professor of medicine at Oxford, John Kidd (1775-1851) published this Bridgewater Treatise in 1833. Kidd argues that animals, minerals and plants are adapted by God to serve mankind. This work exemplifies the influence of natural theology within the scientific establishment before the era of Darwin.
