Pioneering on the Congo

Originally published in 1900, this is the first of two volumes by the missionary W. Holman Bentley (1855-1905), documenting the pioneering work of nineteenth-century missionaries in the Congo. It traces a journey to Stanley (Malebo) Pool, and judiciously observes the policies of the Congo government.
