Lady Isobel Macleod is incurably curious and always speaks her mind. At the age of 12, she vowed never to marry and always to do as she pleases. When she stumbles upon Michael St Clair being beaten by a gang of men, she tries to intervene and finds herself taken captive along with him. The two escape, and she finds herself curious about him.
