Criminally insane, Lawrence Moorehouse, has not uttered a word in forty-six years since his admittance at Bellevue Mental Hospital in New York, New York; for attempted murder. Renowned psychiatrist Dr. Lee Walters gives up on treating him but, is quickly pulled back from retirement at the State Hospital after discovering Lawrence's shocking experience in Hell. Dr. Lee Walters also stumbles upon Michelle Atwood, an aspiring writer - who is haunted by dreams of her childhood memories from the loss of her mother and grandmother and tasks her with auditing Lawrence's testimony. After unearthing the assignment connects to her own pursuits into the unknown, she travels to the New York State Hospital and is led by Dr. Lee Walters to Lawrence Moorehouse, a dejected, tormented man, haunted by demons, and a young girl named Wendy.
