Road to Madrid

An intense story of Ernest Hemingway's return to Spain in 1936, in search of his
lover Maria. A militant Basque woman, with child, who departed Paris, to re-join
her people in Spain.
Hemingway's intense search for one who chose to help oppressed people and
lead a faction of the "International Brigade" against the Franco fascists, rather than
sit and watch.
"Road to Madrid" addresses the basic moral principle of human kindness and
compassion for those who proactively resist undemocratic dictators. Indeed, "for
whom doth the Bell toll?...It tolls for thee."
