Lara is the stereotypical California girl--blonde, blue eyed, with a sun kissed tan.
Kayan, an Iranian foreign exchange student, boyishly handsome with dimples and long black curls, meet on the beaches of Malibu, California.

It was the 70s. There was no world drama coming out of the Middle East, not yet. Lara and Kayan were simply two people falling in love.

A few years later they would marry on the bluffs overlooking the California Coast. Life was idyllic in every way for the young couple.
