C. F. Abdy Williams' 1894 history of musical studies at Cambridge and Oxford universities identifies graduates from as early as 1463. It lists each graduate with biographical information, and describes the development of the subject, the establishment of professorships, the requirements for degrees and the ceremonies for their conferral.
