Sweet's Hortus Britannicus

The first edition of Robert Sweet's work was published in 1826, and this revised second edition in 1830. Using Jussieu's 'natural' system of classification, though conceding some advantages to the Linnaean system, the book provides a comprehensive record of plants then growing and flowering in British gardens.
