Über TAQUILE ISLAND TEXTILES AND INTANGIBLE HERITAGE
The Taquilean textile industry is recognized for its natural materials and dyeing techniques, also for its documentary character, since it reflects the worldview of the inhabitants in the garments made as the chullo, the sash, the istalla, the chuspa among others; which is the main motivation for visiting the island; thanks to the recognition by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2005, for such reasons it is necessary to preserve it as intangible heritage of Peru. This book intends to involve the reader in the meaning of weaving for the inhabitants of Taquile Island.
