The Disappearance of Surfer Girl tells the story of a World War II B-17 bomber crew diverted from their normal bombing mission by an entity that insists the crew has a far more important mission to perform.The entity takes control of the bomber and flies it to the entity''s destination. There, a man in a brown robe explains the mission and its importance to the crew. After agreeing to perform the mission, the crew is released to perform their original bombing mission. But shortly afterward, the bomber is shot down and disappears without a trace.Two decades after the war, the children of the crew participate in worldwide antiwar demonstrations that lead to the end of a war in Asia, and a general easing of tensions between the major nuclear powers of the world.
