Months have passed since the events of The Invisible Kick and The Poison Maker, and Savannah's fresh start has not been easy. The once infamous food scientist has failed to get the lab working. Food shortages are rife, and she and her fellow Raft citizens are seen as a burden.
But there is no going back. The Raft is mostly destroyed, and Savannah believes there is no one left alive.
Then the satellite phone rings.
A few stragglers, barely surviving need rescuing.
As her new country prepares for its first democratic elections, Savannah must convince everyone that her people are worth saving.
