The Friendship of Books

Published posthumously in 1873, F. D. Maurice's collection of lectures offered students a new approach to reading. The book contains lectures on a range of topics including 'Ancient history' and 'Critics' as well as subjects with a more explicitly literary focus. This third edition was published in 1880.
