The Narrow Sea

The story chronicles Mungo Shaw's coming of age. Born and raised in 18th Century Ayrshire he was well-educated and in line to inherit the family farm, yet he went off to sea.
He quickly became a talented seaman but his readiness to take risks drove him into hazardous situations.
In those lawless and violent days how would Mungo prosper or indeed how long could he survive?
