The political dimension of national defence in Brazil

The present academic contribution constitutes the author's doctoral thesis, which explores the political dimension of the national defense function in Brazil, highlighting its complexity and scope for the political and legal scenarios of organization, preparation and employment of military means, as well as the role of political leaders, public institutions and society in democratic contexts. The research addresses mechanisms of transitional justice in Brazil, from the perspective of constitutionalism, reform of institutions and the position of the Brazilian Supreme Court (STF).
