The religion of slavery or the failure of abolitionists

Über The religion of slavery or the failure of abolitionists

This work, extended to the dimension of a political ethic of the relationship with the Other, proposes to share the major elements of a philosophical and social debate related to an irrefragable reality: slavery or "slaveryitude", whose pervasiveness contributes to shaping man's apprehension of the Other, when he refuses to see in him his ego. But it also continues to affect the minds of those who suffered it, as if the memory of this alienation persisted in their genes, bodies and minds. Inappropriately, the color black, associated with the dominated slave, while white is associated with the dominant and superior master, leads to resentment among the people thus inferiorized. Hence this vindictiveness towards the white dominant, leading to the exasperated identity claims of the dominated, and fostering, in place of E. Glissant's relational identity of the Tout-Monde, a heightened mistrust of multiculturalism or its improved, politically correct version, lived out since time immemorial: transculturalism.
