Max Passberger is a successful art entrepreneur who navigates a roster of artists, wealthy clients, and a museum director pining for his gorgeous lesbian secretary; personalities that can be anything from quirky, strange to demanding. He does his wheeling dealing with aplomb while maintaining a high-maintenance relationship with Jessica Castle, a best-selling author. However, one night he meets a waitress who steals his heart, and he drops the author...changing the dynamic of their lives. Along with his new girlfriend, Kerry O'Garrell, he continues to rein in new clients, including a reclusive Texas artist who creates art out of tree branches, and sells them for a "shitload of money." As time passes, Max and Kerry observe escalating right-wing political demands with a dim view, and question if living in the United States is the best option for both of them.
