The Woman Who Went Away

In this gripping tale of a wife, mother, and English teacher on her summer break, Margot is feeling restless and bored, and neglected, too. Her children are away for the summer, and her lawyer husband is busy as always. On an impulse, she decides to go away for a week by herself to the family's mountain retreat. But when she arrives at the isolated cabin on the lake, she discovers that a young man has gotten there before her. At first frightened, she soon finds herself intrigued by gentle, mysterious Luc, and he by her. She fantasizes a love affair with him, anonymous, flitting, an interlude, afterward, a splendid memory. But the relationship gets out of hand, and Margot wishes she had never left home.
