The book is divided into three parts: (1) First Period, Wives of the Patriarchs. (2) Second Period, The Exodus and the Law. (3) Third Period, Between the Delivery of the Law and the Monarchy.
Grace Aguilar was the oldest child of a merchant descended from the Jews of Spain, who fled from persecution in that country and sought and found asylum in England.
