Emma Blair is a slightly sheltered, naive young woman; she left her family for the man she loved and moved across the country to be with him. When she finds out that he's been deceiving her for years she's heartbroken and betrayed. Into her world walked Elliott Whitlock, a wealthy, handsome older man. Elliott is a widower with two college age children and he's offering Emma the world.
After a whirlwind romance including a trip across Europe and a marriage proposal at the Eiffel Tower, Emma finds herself Elliott's wife and suddenly the step-mother of two children that are not much younger than she is.
As much as Emma loves her husband she never suspected the difficulties being married to him would cause, Elliott's children, Preston and Payton are less than thrilled to have a new mother and vow to destroy the marriage.
Emma could never have known the resentments that lay buried in the new family she's married into, nor could she know the truth behind the relationship between her husband and his children or their deceased mother. Lies and manipulation are the norm in the Whitlock family and Emma will have to learn who to trust and to question everything before she becomes caught up in the pathological lies of her step-children who are determined to ruin their father's life.
