Theory of Harmony

In the third edition of this influential textbook, which sheds light on nineteenth-century composition and analysis, the British composer John Stainer (1840-1901) claimed that his theory of harmony was no longer restricted to the tempered scale but that he considered it perfectly applicable to the system of just intonation.
