Über Those O80s Station Wagons
In another time, station wagons were as common as Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) are today. They were automobiles of function and purpose, serving as chief family haulers. They shared the same call-to-action as utility vehicles with two or three rows of seating, room for luggage and space for other daily necessities and routine errands. They came with liftgates and split doors to provide access to the cargo area. Some could tow boats and trailers; the ultimate camping pairing of wagon and equipment. They hauled sporting goods and camping gear, carried groceries and hardware store purchases, and cradled picnic lunches and precious antique store finds. The station wagons were mainstays of American driveways for six-plus decades. This book pays tribute to the Ô80s wagons; to their ubiquitous presence, variety and flexibility.
