This new critical edition of the Three Tales documents a paradigm shift in Flaubert studies, as it highlights the pivotal role of theological and patristic dimensions in Flaubert¿s ¿uvre. Barbara Vinken reads the Three Tales in the light of their religious intertexts and shows how Flaubert¿s tales tell us a whole other history of Christianity.
