Have you ever had a dream that was so important that you were willing to give everything up for it? Friends, families, education? A dream that encapsulates everything you have ever wanted? A dream that is worth fighting for, despite the hand that life plays you?
Meet Dena-the girl who grew up with her feet always dribbling around the curve of a soccer ball. Every move, every tackle, every hidden onset of the game, she is familiar with it all. She can hold her own against the best of players. After tragically losing a loved one, she finds herself in a game that is much more complicated than the one she is used to playing-the game of life.
Read as she slowly learns how to get used to the intricacies of the game that she always took for granted: her relationship with her mother, coping with grief and loss, finding a place in a new city, the ups and downs of independence, losing and gaining new friends, and overcoming her struggling relationship with soccer as she joins an underground league.
All of us have been Dena at some point in our lives and she leaves us with an important lesson: life is not very different from a soccer field-it's not the bruises we get along the game, it's the final score that matters.
