The Conglomerate runs the Union of Solar Systems. Involved in many wars across the galaxy, it sends its injured, animal-adapted, genetically-modified space marines to medical space station hospitals to be repaired.

Lieutenant Grace Lord MD, combat surgeon-in-training, dreamed of saving lives but she never imagined she'd be tasked with having to save the human race.
Boarding the Conglomerate's Premier Medical Space Station, the Nelson Mandela, Grace is immediately attacked by a massive, genetically-modified, gorilla space marine, who has been exposed to a battle toxin causing psychosis and death. Grace must survive his assault long enough to save his life. Thus begins her job.
Stalked by strange androids, slashed by a tiger-enhanced captain, overworked by a megalomaniac boss, and pursued by a psychiatrist with the face of an Adonis, Grace will not be deterred from becoming the best surgeon she can be. When a mysterious ship docks at the station, devoid of crew, Grace's world is flipped upside down. Before she knows it, she is in a race against time to find a cure for the greatest threat humankind has ever faced. Failure means annihilation by either the organism or by the Conglomerate.
