Ancient Israelite and African Wisdom Traditions

This monograph examines the relationship between two particular sets of wisdom traditions: the ancient Israelite wisdom tradition and the African wisdom traditions. The working hypothesis of the monograph is that there are literary and thematic similarities between the two sets of wisdom traditions. The supposed similarities raise epistemological and theological questions which this monograph explores in order, not necessarily to provide definitive answers but, to stimulate critical thinking in biblical studies - a critical thinking that should hopefully be geared toward engaging in meaningful inter-faith dialogues and biblical faith witness.
