Über Arab Culture and Islamic Heritage
The purpose of this work ¿Arab Culture and Islamic Heritage¿ is to explain to the world, in as concise a manner as possible, the perspectives on Arab and Indian Islamic Writings and Heritages. The Arabs were the inheritors of the scientific tradition. They preserved, elaborated and passed it to the rest of the world. The term Arab refers to culture and language. The Arab world stretches across 22 countries namely Algeria, Bahrain, the Comoros Islands, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Mauritania, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, and Yemen. This book is a collection of nine articles on Arab and Indian Islamic Perspectives. The five articles shed light on Indian Islamic Studies,i.e., The Prophet¿s Panegyrics, The Indian Islamic Scholar and Educationist-Azad, Islamic Ethics in ¿Thirukkural¿, Islamic Legendary Characters in the Novel ¿Tamirappattanam¿ and Islamic Endowments in Tamil Nadu. The remaining four articles focus on Arab Culture, i.e., Arabic Language in India, Modern Women Writers of Egypt and Lebanon ,Nobel Laureate Naguib Mahfouz and the Maq¿m¿t of al-Hamadhani.
