The book of poems is strongly influenced by Boris Pasternak's book Dr Zhivago 1957. And the film of the book directed by David Lean 1965.
The poems chart a love story between Maxim and Tara. Against the sweeping history of historical events. Nominally set in Arkhangelsk a small city on the Northern Dvina near to the White Sea. Interweaving two of Boris Pasternak's poems.
