Seminar paper from the year 2018 in the subject Romance Studies - Italian and Sardinian Studies, grade: 1,0, Ruhr-University of Bochum (BA Linguistics), course: Wordformation Processes, language: English, abstract: Verb-noun (V+N) compounds have long been the subject of much discussion due to their special status as a highly productive word formation pattern in Romance languages. Especially in Italian, French and Spanish, different aspects about V+N compounds have been widely discussed among linguists. This paper focuses on Italian V+N compounds (also briefly touching on French and Spanish), outlining the key aspects that have been cause for debate in the past and giving the commonly accepted interpretation of them. Furthermore, the final vowel of the verbal constituent of V+N compounds is discussed as the main existing analyses are presented and contextualized.

Die zweite Portfolio-Aufgabe widmet sich der Bedeutung von Bildungssprache und durchgängiger Sprachbildung im schulischen Kontext. Abschließend erfolgt in der dritten Portfolio-Aufgabe die Analyse eines Schülertextes mit anschließendem konstruktivem Feedback. Die Arbeit bietet einen Einblick in die Herausforderungen und Möglichkeiten, die sich im schulischen Umfeld in Bezug auf Mehrsprachigkeit und Deutsch als Zweitsprache ergeben. Durch die praxisorientierten Aufgaben werden konkrete Ansätze zur Verbesserung sprachlicher Kompetenzen und des Einsatzes von Bildungssprache aufgezeigt.

While traditionally examined in speech acts, recent scholarly interest has shifted towards analyzing code-switching in song lyrics, offering unique insights, especially in the globalized realm of music. This paper delves into the underexplored territory of Russian-English code-switching in Russian rap, a genre gaining popularity worldwide. Examining the sociolinguistic motivations and social functions behind the use of English in Russian rap, the study navigates through theoretical foundations of code-switching, prior research in musical contexts, and the evolving landscape of Russian rap within contemporary society. The analysis of data illuminates the patterns and purposes of code-switching in this genre. The paper concludes with a brief summary and outlines potential avenues for future research.

Projektarbeit aus dem Jahr 2022 im Fachbereich Sprachwissenschaft / Sprachforschung (fachübergreifend), Note: 1,0, Universität Hamburg, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Langjährige, diverse Migrationsprozesse haben dazu beigetragen, dass Mehrsprachigkeit auch in Europa inzwischen die Norm ist. In Deutschland wachsen immer mehr Kinder zwei-, drei- oder sogar viersprachig auf ¿ die Tendenz ist steigend. Die Mehrsprachigkeit von Kindern und Jugendlichen in Deutschland hat nachgewiesene Auswirkungen auf ihren Bildungserfolg. Aber wie beeinflusst sie ihr Selbstbild? Dieser Frage wurde bislang noch kaum nachgegangen, obwohl sie wichtige Erkenntnisse über die Erlebnisse und Emotionen zahlreicher Kinder und Jugendlicher liefern könnte. Diese Studie möchte daher besagtes Selbstbild, genauer noch das sprachliche Selbstkonzept, von multilingualen Jugendlichen genauer betrachten. Welche Faktoren beeinflussen das sprachliche Selbstkonzept und inwiefern spielt Multilingualismus dabei eine Rolle? Diesen Fragen sollen in der Studie in Form von Leitfadeninterviews nachgegangen werden. Drei multilinguale Jugendliche sollen dabei nach ihren Herkunftssprachen, ihrem Migrationserlebnis, der emotionalen Bindung zu ihren gesprochenen Sprachen, ihren Erfahrungen beim Spracherwerb sowie einer Einschätzung ihrer Sprachfähigkeiten gefragt werden. Das Ziel dieser Gespräche ist es, eindeutige Faktoren zu definieren und zu kategorisieren, die ein sprachliches Selbstkonzept beeinflussen, um somit ein besseres Verständnis von dem sprachlichen Selbstkonzept multilingualer Jugendlicher zu erlangen. Schließlich soll das Endergebnis bildlich in einer Grafik festgehalten werden.

Seminar paper from the year 2018 in the subject Russian / Slavic Languages, grade: 2,0, Ruhr-University of Bochum (BA Linguistics), course: Plurality, language: English, abstract: Mass and count nouns show a clear difference in their properties and morphosyntactic behavior. However, there are still nouns that behave slightly differently, making it difficult to assign them to the group of mass or alternatively count nouns. Such nouns are superordinate nouns like 'furniture' and 'footwear'. Taking a look at the group of collective nouns in Russian, this paper applies the issue of mass and count properties as well as nouns being difficult to classify to this group. The analysis shows that within the group of Russian collective nouns, there is also a difference in the behavior of some nouns. These nouns are then categorized into the tentative subgroups 'countable collective nouns' and 'superordinate collective nouns' and the paper proposes a possible explanation for their behavior.

Focusing on a small set of YouTube videos, the research examines a specific linguistic feature: the irregular use of articles. Considering the historical context of Russian-English language contact, the study explores the current state of English in Russia and the linguistic features that make Russian English unique. The analysis includes a comparison of article use in Standard English and Russian English, aiming to identify tendencies and differences among speakers in Russia and Russian emigrants in the US. By utilizing YouTube as a platform for real data collection, the study contributes to the growing understanding of Russian English as a distinct and evolving variety in the world of World Englishes.

Diese Arbeit untersucht ein interessantes linguistisches Merkmal dieser Epoche, die werden-Periphrase, die die Modalperiphrase mit wollen oder sollen ablöste. Dabei werden Unstimmigkeiten zwischen theoretischer Einordnung und sprachpraktischem Usus betrachtet, insbesondere anhand des Fremdsprachenlehrwerks "The Eloquent Master of Languages". Dieses Werk behandelt die vier Haupteuropäischen Sprachen Französisch, Italienisch, Englisch und Hochdeutsch. Der Fokus liegt zunächst auf dem englischen Teil, wobei Grammatik- und Dialogteil analysiert werden. Die Arbeit gibt einen Überblick über den theoretischen Hintergrund, präsentiert die Analyse des Werks und endet mit einer Zusammenfassung und Ausblick auf weitere Forschungsmöglichkeiten.

Through an empirical analysis of mainstream rap songs, the study examines the semantics of English code-switches, aiming to uncover the semantic fields they occupy and understand their functional aspects. The paper provides a brief definition of code-switching, reviews existing research on its role in music, with a focus on rap, and discusses the evolving landscape of German rap. The research methodology and data presentation are detailed, followed by a summary of results and a discussion of notable findings. Ursprünglich im soziologischen und migrationswissenschaftlichen Kontext entwickelt, hat sich der Begriff rasch in verschiedenen wissenschaftlichen Disziplinen verbreitet. Die Autoren Steven Vertovec, Fran Meissner, Jan Blommaert, Ben Rampton und Ingrid Gogolin haben maßgeblich zur Entwicklung des Superdiversitätsansatzes beigetragen.
