    The issue of student attrition from higher education has received considerable attention as it is a serious problem in Colombia and around the world. More than 25% of those admitted to a Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) programme drop out at some point. The research focuses on problems that could be solved through pedagogy. This study reviews the literature on attrition and provides comparative data from two other TEFL programmes in Bogotá, Colombia. According to Hummel, (2014), these factors play an important role when learning a second language: intelligence aptitude, attitudes, motivation, personality, learning style, cognitive style and learning strategies. We plan to focus on attitudes, motivation and language learning strategies. The information gathered through surveys and interviews tries to find constant causes in order to propose solutions to the programme management together with the teaching staff.

    La désertion des étudiants de l'enseignement supérieur a fait l'objet d'une attention considérable, car il s'agit d'un problème grave en Colombie et dans le monde entier. Plus de 25 % des étudiants admis dans un programme d'enseignement de l'anglais langue étrangère (TEFL) abandonnent le programme à un moment ou à un autre. L'enquête se concentre sur les problèmes qui pourraient être résolus par la pédagogie. Cette étude passe en revue la littérature sur l'abandon et apporte des données comparatives de deux autres programmes d'enseignement de l'anglais langue étrangère à Bogotá, en Colombie. Selon Hummel (2014), les facteurs suivants jouent un rôle important dans l'apprentissage d'une seconde langue : aptitude intellectuelle, attitudes, motivation, personnalité, style d'apprentissage, style cognitif et stratégies d'apprentissage. Nous prévoyons de nous concentrer sur les attitudes, la motivation et les stratégies d'apprentissage des langues. Les informations recueillies par le biais d'enquêtes et d'entretiens tentent de trouver des causes constantes afin de proposer des solutions à la direction du programme ainsi qu'au corps enseignant.

De acordo com Hummel, (2014), estes factores desempenham um papel importante na aprendizagem de uma segunda língua: aptidão de inteligência, atitudes, motivação, personalidade, estilo de aprendizagem, estilo cognitivo e estratégias de aprendizagem. Tencionamos concentrar-nos nas atitudes, na motivação e nas estratégias de aprendizagem de línguas. A informação recolhida através de inquéritos e entrevistas tenta encontrar causas constantes para propor soluções à gestão do programa juntamente com o corpo docente.

Mit den durch Umfragen und Interviews gesammelten Informationen wird versucht, konstante Ursachen zu finden, um der Programmleitung zusammen mit den Lehrkräften Lösungen vorzuschlagen.
