This book aims at the upper-class undergraduate and the graduate students, and practicing engineers in the disciplines of mechanical, electrical, and computer engineering, with background knowledge of control. This book, first, explains the components of the haptic systems that are gaining popularity in the virtual reality simulations, the metaverse applications, as well as the remotely operated robotic systems. Next, the book introduces the previous and current widely-adopted methods for modeling and control of the haptic systems. The important metrics of performance such as stability and transparency of the haptic systems are explained and analyzed. Shortcomings of the current methods are discussed using these metrics. The book, then, explains the theories on the input-to-state stability (ISS), and shows how to formulate the control of haptic systems into the ISS framework. Step by step process of control design using the formulation is detailed, and better results are shown with experiment examples. The book develops further the presented approach to secure improved performance under selected issues. For example, better transparency of the haptic rendering, and handling of constant or time-varying time delay present in the haptic control systems.

This book presents a new approach to computational musicology in which music becomes a computational entity based on human cognition, allowing us to calculate music like numbers. Does music have semantics? Can the meaning of music be revealed using symbols and described using language? The authors seek to answer these questions in order to reveal the essence of music. Chapter 1 addresses a very fundamental point, the meaning of music, while referring to semiotics, gestalt, Schenkerian analysis and cognitive reality. Chapter 2 considers why the 12-tone equal temperament came to be prevalent. This chapter serves as an introduction to the mathematical definition of harmony, which concerns the ratios of frequency in tonic waves. Chapter 3, "e;Music and Language,"e; explains the fundamentals of grammar theory and the compositionality principle, which states that the semantics of a sentence can be composed in parallel to its syntactic structure. In turn, Chapter 4 explains the most prevalent score notation - the Berklee method, which originated at the Berklee School of Music in Boston - from a different point of view, namely, symbolic computation based on music theory. Chapters 5 and 6 introduce readers to two important theories, the implication-realization model and generative theory of tonal music (GTTM), and explain the essence of these theories, also from a computational standpoint. The authors seek to reinterpret these theories, aiming at their formalization and implementation on a computer. Chapter 7 presents the outcomes of this attempt, describing the framework that the authors have developed, in which music is formalized and becomes computable. Chapters 8 and 9 are devoted to GTTM analyzers and the applications of GTTM. Lastly, Chapter 10 discusses the future of music in connection with computation and artificial intelligence.This book is intended both for general readers who are interested in music, and scientists whose research focuses on music information processing. In order to make the content as accessible as possible, each chapter is self-contained.

This work examines the practice of reading aloud in the interactional context of adult participants engaging in an interface-mediated collaborative game activity. With a conversation analytic approach onto video data of user studies, empirical cases of reading aloud are presented. It is shown how participants multimodally co-organise reading aloud in-interaction for providing accessibility to game text in a game that is unfamiliar to them. With reading aloud, participants meet the interactional challenge of making game text audibly accessible that is not always visually accessible for all participant alike. This practice is not only conducted for another but with another in a truly joint fashion, working as a continuer to accomplish the unfamiliar game.

Seit ihrer Entstehung hat die Bildungsinnovation wichtige Aspekte des Lehr-Lern-Prozesses gestärkt, darunter neue Strategien, die von den Lehrern eingesetzt werden, sowie die Integration der Schüler, die Bedeutung des kollaborativen Lernens und der Gruppendynamik mit reflektierenden Ansätzen zum Denken und zur Entwicklung der verschiedenen Komponenten der Gruppe und die Verbesserung der zwischenmenschlichen Fähigkeiten der Teilnehmer.In Anbetracht der obigen Ausführungen wurden in dieser Studie wichtige Fragen aus der Problematik des multidimensionalen Umfelds der Studierenden und der sehr langsamen Einbeziehung der IKT aufgezeigt, die zur Entwicklung von E-Learning- und Blended-Learning-Modellen (B-Learning und Blended-Learning) führten. Das Ziel der Forschung war es, eine kritische Begründung für die Stärkung der IKT-gestützten Lehrinnovation für das gemeinsame Lernen von Studenten zu finden.

Fin dalla sua concezione, l'innovazione didattica ha rafforzato aspetti importanti nel processo di insegnamento-apprendimento, tra cui le nuove strategie utilizzate dagli insegnanti e l'integrazione degli studenti, l'importanza dell'apprendimento collaborativo delle dinamiche di gruppo con approcci riflessivi al pensiero e allo sviluppo dei vari componenti del gruppo, migliorando le capacità di relazione interpersonale tra i partecipanti.Alla luce di quanto detto, questo studio ha presentato questioni importanti a partire dalle problematiche evidenziate nell'ambiente multidimensionale degli studenti, e l'incorporazione delle TIC molto lentamente, che ha dato il via allo sviluppo di modelli di e-learning e di apprendimento misto (b-learning e blended-learning). L'obiettivo della ricerca è stato quello di stabilire una logica critica per il rafforzamento dell'innovazione didattica basata sulle TIC per l'apprendimento collaborativo degli studenti.

Wireless Mesh Networks (WMNs) haben sich in letzter Zeit als eine neue Netzwerktechnologie für den Einsatz drahtloser Netzwerkinfrastrukturen zur Erleichterung des Internetzugangs etabliert. Das Routing in WMNs ist aufgrund der unvorhersehbaren Variationen in den drahtlosen Umgebungen eine Herausforderung. In diesem Buch werden drei Multi-Path-Routing-Protokolle, nämlich AOMDV, MOLSR und MHRP, im Hinblick auf ihre Leistung in WMN verglichen. Das Buch stellt eine ausgewogene Behandlung der Theorie, Architektur und Simulation von WMN dar und wird sich hoffentlich für viele Leser als nützlich erweisen.

Depuis sa conception, l'innovation éducative a renforcé des aspects importants dans le processus d'enseignement-apprentissage, notamment les nouvelles stratégies utilisées par les enseignants ainsi que l'intégration des étudiants, l'importance de l'apprentissage collaboratif de la dynamique de groupe avec des approches réflexives de la pensée et du développement des différentes composantes du groupe, l'amélioration des compétences en matière de relations interpersonnelles entre les participants.Compte tenu de ce qui précède, cette étude a présenté des questions importantes à partir de la problématique mise en évidence dans l'environnement multidimensionnel des étudiants, et l'incorporation des TIC très lentement, ce qui a donné lieu au développement de l'apprentissage en ligne et des modèles d'apprentissage mixte (b-learning et blended-learning). L'objectif de la recherche était d'établir un raisonnement critique pour renforcer l'innovation pédagogique basée sur les TIC pour l'apprentissage collaboratif des étudiants.
