Über Crusade in Nuremberg
"Although there have been several studies of the American occupation of Germany, Dastrup's account of Nuremberg under American military government is only the second study of a specific German community. Dastrup, a historian in the US army, first sketches the origins of US occupation policies. He then analyzes the travails of denazification in Nuremberg, the laborious reeducation efforts, the manipulation of German media by American military authorities, the studious construction of representative institutions, and the dismantling of Nuremberg factories followed, in the end, by measures to restructure the local economy for peaceful uses. Although not always critical, Dastrup's work confirms that American policies in the once-renowned Nazi bastion were not significantly different from those in other areas of Germany.... [It] will be useful to advanced undergraduates and scholars alike."-Choice
