Traffic congestion is a significant problem, especially in growing nations; to encounter this, several models of traffic system were developed. For a smart transportation system, a new framework is recommended to avoid congestion. A unique framework called Edge Detection & Moving Object Detection (EDAMOD) paradigm, which combinedly uses Edge Detection & Moving Object Detection tactics to organize the traffic at traffic signal junction, through splitting the ROI into 2 parts. In first region it implements ED & in region 2 it employs MOD. By employing the novel method that has been proposed, the live traffic images are used as input to the proposed model to calculate the traffic density values of the live traffic frames. EDAMOD algorithm is a novel technique which effectively handles both the static frames & dynamic frames.
