The writings of the French historian and politician Louis Blanc (1811-82) had a considerable influence on the development of French socialism. Volume 4 of this twelve-volume history, first published in 1852, focuses on the administrative reorganisation of France, including the Civil Constitution of the Clergy passed in July 1790.
